The company was called PxQ and was devoted to the conduction of market researches on real estate. They used to gather information from different sources, including the construction sector and the government.
Until that moment, the real estate market had teams of people which spent large amounts of time creating statistical reports which contained a lot of information. Then, they were offered to customers.
Several companies used to gather different kinds of information. Some of them were focused on on-going projects (related to construction) and others on sales (transactions). Each of them had an information and market share.
In that moment, XoomCode was launched in an already existing market. There were people who bought reports but XoomCode proposed developing an application devoted to the collection and organization of this information in a single place for the purpose of providing online reports to associated customers. The information supplied by this service was updated regularly.
This project relied on the idea of “encapsulating” GIS complexity within the application for the purpose of offering customers the possibility of making GIS analysis. In this way, a complex system was turned into a streamlined process for information analysis.
XoomCode already had experience in the conduction of GIS analysis using web applications with easy-to-use graphic interfaces. The company was also able to provide Open Source technologies for geospatial data administration.
